Adult Programs

PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT for TEACHERS, PARAPROFESSIONALS, SITE STAFF
In addition to the Sociodrama and Creative Drama programs for youth where professional development is built in, we offer workshops independent from youth programs for staff.  These workshops are designed with the specific needs of the partner in mind.  These workshops are intended for teachers and staff who work with disabled or disadvantaged youth.  Examples of workshops offered:

· Learning Standards (and the NYC Blueprint in the Arts)
· Incorporating the Arts in the Classroom
· Using Dramatic Arts to Enhance Core Academic Subjects
· Including students with disabilities in the arts
· Teaching to Different Learning Styles: How the Arts Can Help
· Partnering with a Teaching Artist in the Classroom
· Disability Awareness

PARENT WORKSHOPS
Participants are placed in improvised situations reflecting their experiences as parents or guardians. These workshops are designed with the specific needs of the partner in mind and use drama activities to stimulate discovery of specific parenting issues.

Examples of workshops include:

· Challenges of Communication with your Child
· Incorporating the Arts at Home
· Siblings and Friends: Youth With and Without Disabilities Together
· Using Drama Techniques to Discuss Sensitive Issues

PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT for TEACHING ARTISTS
IDEAS provides training and information to the professional Teaching Artists on our roster. Teaching Artists not on our roster are welcome to join us, by invitation only. Workshops are occasionally taught by guest teaching artists with an area of specialty. Topics covered in the past:
