Creative Drama

Stimulating the imagination of the students, several interactive drama activities are presented.  Students are guided to create, express, and imagine. Activities include playmaking through stories, sensory awareness, use of costumes and props, suggested situations, known stories, non-verbal expression, character creation and relationships. Supplemental arts may include: mime, masks, dance, visual art, literature, poetry, music. Creative Drama can enhance academic curricula if desired, and is very much designed with teacher/staff input. No culminating event, unless specified through a Plus option. Minimum 8 sessions, plus teacher/staff orientation and planning session for a residency. However, this program is also offered as a single 60-90 minute workshop.

PLUS – OPTIONAL PERFORMANCE COMPONENT
Either Sociodrama or Creative Drama can be  Plus program, by request. This is simply an extension of either program with a performance component. A minimum of four (4) additional workshops are added to the above programs to focus on performing orginal student-generated scenes. This option ends in an informal showcase presentation of scenes created during the residency. Here students learn other aspects of theater in addition to acting that go with a production.

IDEAS has a valid contract with the NYC Department of Education, and is registered with Nassau BOCES.
All programs are Fee-For-Service.
